Organizers of the 32nd Annual Russian Orthodox Church Musicians’ Conference are urging colleagues to take full advantage of deeply discounted conference registration fees during the month of May. In an effort to encourage a community of individuals who are always busy and notorious procrastinators, the ROCM conference committee has authorized cut-rate pricing for the month of May with a “NO REGRETS” incentive program.
“We know how it is for choir conductors and singers,” says Committee co-chair Elizabeth Ledkovsky. “Great Lent and Pascha are all-consuming and followed — always! — by many other demands on time and attention: catching up on work and home projects, wedding and graduation season, all the exciting and mundane parts of life that we set aside in March and early April need attention. We get it!”
But the conference organizers want and need people to break the procrastination habit and commit now. To encourage early registration, the local committee is offering an incentive: sign up early with NO REGRETS later.
The plan is meant to motivate participants to commit in May to the Fall 2025 conference, which will be held in Princeton New Jersey, culminating in divine services at Saint Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ, October 8 – 12, 2025. The incentive program offers registration fees at heavily discounted rates (approx. 25%) that remain fully refundable until shortly before the conference.
The urgency, Ledkovsky explains, is driven in part by a hotel contract that includes payment of periodic deposits, including one due in early June. That deadline hits before the local hosting community will be able to pivot from the Paschal-Pentecost season’s demands to its conference-supporting efforts, centered around the parish’s main event of the year — the annual diocesan celebration of the Baptism of Rus’ attracts hundreds of faithful and will be held this year on July 26 -28.
“Not only does early registration help the committee with cash flow,” Ledkovsky explains, “but it also helps organizers plan the program and especially the repertoire for divine services properly, Having a clear understanding of the range of voices and experience levels permits the leadership to tailor their efforts better, toward the best experience possible. Signing up now means the individual will save money — but if life happens in such a way that someone who signed up early won’t be able to make it, the NO REGRETS policy provides that they will get their money back. There is really nothing to lose!”
